Good Morning & Happy Monday !!!

***The children and I are sending special prayers up starting 9/13 to 9/23 for those enduring Hurricane conditions. We pray for all as a collective daily as well. During this time all broadcasts from the “Verse of the day” have been suspended (resuming via podcast 9/24) ***

I pray each and every one of you had a wonderful weekend. I also pray that each and every one of you has a blessed and glorious rest of your week.

As for the children and I, our weekend was great. We slept in on Saturday because we all just got back into the school swing but we also got our movie time on as well so that we could unwind. Yesterday, we praised the Lord and then enjoyed WWE and all of its glory ( We love the New Day and Roman Reigns).

 

This week, we are focusing on prayer, school work and I, on work in general. I have a lot of things that will be coming up for October, November and December so this month is crucial in getting finances and the foundation of all projects done.

With that being said…..

As you all know, my mom is in Heaven. Her birthday was the 16th and she would have been 78. What you may not know, is that she has one Sister who has a birthday coming up this Thursday.

For one whole week, they would be the same age because they are exactly 1 year and 7 days apart-meaning right now my Aunt is the same age my mom would have been and turns one year older this Thursday.

What you also may not know, is that I have been estranged from my Aunt, since I was a little girl and just this year as I rededicated myself to the Lord, I called her up and reconciled. She and my Uncle are the only direct connection to my mom that I have left alive and I wanted to make something special to commemorate that.

So to give honor to the Lord Jesus Christ and to my Aunt Grace I created this shirt. I wanted it to incorporate the word but also her name as she has been a born again Christian for as long as I can remember.

But this shirt is so wonderful that we all can purchase one and show the love of Christ by spreading the gospel around the world because ” His Grace is Sufficient” and it keeps us from day to day.

What Poetry Does for Inner City Youth

As a 15 year old, I actually had the opportunity along with my mom who sat next to Allen Ginsberg’s mom to meet some great people:

• Amiri Baraka
• Gwendolyn Brooks
• Nikki Giovanni
• Allen Ginsberg
• Maria Mazzioti Gillian
• Laura Boss

To name a few! They came to visit our schools and to the Paterson Museum and they inspired me  and others to continue in poetry. I was first introduced to poetry by my gifted and talented teacher, Mrs. Busnar in the 3rd grade, as a way to vent and express myself within the confounds of my neighborhood. I didn’t know we were poor, none of us did, but I know that we delighted in these very prominent people coming to town. Here are some pictures my mom saved, God bless her!

I do not have the full papers but one day I will request the archives and I think if anyone wants to look them up they can. At the time I was Wanda Wilson,and promised I would make books someday,Thanks to the great visitors,writers,poets…that dream came true.
